Farming Simulator 22: Ground Working Fertilizing

Fertilizing is one of the most important aspects of farming. If you’ve started Farming Simulator 22 but don’t know how to manage this aspect of the game, here’s all you need to know!

How Fertilizing Works in Farming Simulator 22

Fertilizing at least one crop per cycle is important if you want to get as much money from your crops as possible. Generally speaking, it’s possible to fertilize every individual crop twice.

That doesn’t mean you can go crazy with it though. There needs to be proper management, such as applying the fertilizer once after planting and the second time after the seeds are sprouting. That said, there are also exceptions to the gameplay mechanic.

One exception is that you can only fertilize grass once. The other exception is that you can use manure or slurry with a double application rate. This lets you achieve complete fertilization with a single application, but it takes twice the time as a normal application.

Variety of Fertilizers in FS22

There’s a lot of different fertilizers in the game, and each has their pros and cons. Here’s an overview of said fertilizers:

By-Product Fertilizers: These are the cheapest fertilizers in the game because they come from your animals. It includes manure, digestate, and slurry. They’re great for saving money on fertilizers. You’ll need a manure spreader, digestate tanker, and slurry tanker respectively to apply each one.
Solid and Liquid Fertilizers: These are store-bought options that are highly effective. You can buy them from different vendors in the game. You’ll need a sprayer for the solid fertilizers and a sprayer for the liquid ones.
Catch Crops: Lastly, players can also fertilize their fields with a catch crop. Plant oilseed radish to achieve one step of the fertilization process. Then, plant over the oilseed radish.
